About Us
Our
Mission
The
Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the Southeast is a
not-for-profit organization which was created for the purpose of
rescuing unwanted Old English Sheepdogs in the Southeastern United
States and finding suitable homes for them. Our organization has
capable and dedicated volunteers who have rescued and placed OES for
many years.
Goals
and Objectives
To
establish, organize, and maintain a rescue program for abandoned,
mistreated or unwanted purebred OES regardless of whether such animals
are registered with the American Kennel Club.
- To provide
veterinary care, food, grooming, evaluation and temporary shelter for
Old English Sheepdogs and to locate persons and families to provide
permanent homes for these unwanted dogs.
- To conduct
fund-raising events and undertake such financial programs necessary to
fund the purposes set forth in the OES Rescue Network Mission
Statement.
- To undertake any
legal obligations or activities necessary to accomplish the goals of
the group.
- To maintain a
cooperative association with all Old English Sheepdog Clubs in an
effort to protect the breed.
What We Do
It
is expected that each dog entering our care will see a veterinarian
within 24 hours for a complete physical and treatment of any medical
conditions including but not limited to a heartworm test, rabies and
other vaccinations and spay or neuter surgery. The dog will then be
groomed and either fostered with a family or boarded in a kennel during
which time its temperament will be tested to help us match the dog with
the best possible family for its individual personality. Some
dogs may need to remain in medical care for completion of medical
treatment before placement in a new home.
